Started Dogs and the Rehoming Process

From time to time, adolescent or adult dogs become available for rehoming. DL-GNA posts these dogs here as a courtesy to members but makes no guarantees about any dog. Please contact the rehoming coordinator if you would like to be placed on a contact list for when rehoming opportunities become available. We do our best to match dogs with homes based on the needs of that particular dog and the abilities & experience level of the new handler. This process only works when all parties are completely honest and transparent about their circumstances.

If you have a DL that needs to be rehomed for any reason, please contact your breeder first. From there, you can work together with the rehoming coordinator to exchange relevant information and begin the search for a new, suitable home. There is never anything to be ashamed about if a dog needs a new home! Finding the right match is the kindest and most selfless thing that can be done for any dog.

Biene von Obenstaat

Whelped: November 2018

Color: Brown

Biene is a five-year-old female spayed DL looking for a new hunting home. She’s currently located in Tennessee.

Strengths: Biene is a dog that loves being around people. She has a great off switch which makes her a pleasure to have around - as long as she has a dog bed she’s happy! She’s had continual obedience and hunting training and is a great hunting companion. She’s driven, searches patiently, and has good obedience and great recall. She’s steady to flush and retrieves reliably. She also loves the water, though her hunting experience is mainly upland.

Weaknesses: Biene is reactive to other dogs, which is the reason for rehoming. She has had training for this and has shown some improvement outside the home, but struggles with interactions in her own space. Biene would do best in a home that has experience with reactive dogs, or one with no other pets or kids.
